South Florida will be rocking next month when Barrett-Jackson returns to hold its 2022 Palm Beach Auction. The three-day auction will run from April 7 to 9 at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach.
The already stellar auction lineup was just infused with additional star power in the form of more than three dozen automotive lots and many pieces of automobilia from the John Staluppi Collection and his Cars of Dreams Museum, all offered without reserve.
The vehicles offered from the collection run the automotive gamut, from 1930s hot rods and classics to resto-mods and modern vehicles. The star of the group is a 1957 Desoto Adventurer convertible. Built in limited numbers, the Adventurer is one of 300 and has been fully restored in its factory gold color with white accents. Under the hood is a 345-ci Hemi V8 topped with a four-barrel carburetor and driving comfort is aided by power steering and power brakes. Inside, passengers are treated to tan leather, power windows and power seat.
American muscle is also represented, including the 1967 Shelby GT500 fastback in Brittany Blue — one of 438 originally finished in the color and one of just 2,048 ’67 Shelby GT500s produced. Having been well-maintained since a restoration in 1997, the Shelby retains its original sheet metal and fiberglass components, wood steering wheel, green line gauges and original air cleaner assembly. The GT500 is sold with a Deluxe Marti Report and copies of all documents from 1967 Shelby registrar Dave Mathews.
On the resto-mod front, is a rotisserie-restored 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz custom convertible updated with a LQ9 2012 ESV V8 and Holley Terminator electronic fuel injection. Other features include Wilwood disc brakes, dual exhaust, digital dash, black leather interior and a power top.
Equally stunning are two custom Corvettes, a Classic White with red Stinger hood 1967 Chevrolet Corvette coupe and a Charcoal Metallic 1962 Corvette roadster. The ’67 coupe is the result of a two-year build that sits on a Coffman chassis with C6 suspension and is powered by an LS6 5.7-L V8 mated to a six-speed manual transmission.
The’62 roadster features a custom Paul Newman frame, a Dana 44 rear end, independent rear suspension, Wilwood disc brakes and polished stainless-steel exhaust with MagnaFlow mufflers. Special styling touches include custom headlights, a mesh grille, LED taillights and a ’67-style power hood with a 2013 ZR1 hood insert. The heart of the machine is a 6.2-L LT1 V8 fitted with an Edelbrock supercharger and a GM Performance automatic transmission.
