On the heels of a successful push into the international market, Gooding & Company has announced it will hold a UK-based sale in partnership with the 2022 Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace. The London Auction is scheduled for Saturday, September 3rd of next year.
This comes after two strong Geared Online auctions with available lots based in the UK, as well as the awe-inspiring Passion of a Lifetime auction in 2020. These international sales have realized some exceptional results, including the $3.5m sale of a 1969 Ford GT40 and a $3.7m sale of a 1961 Aston Martin DB4GT. The biggest star of Gooding’s UK auctions thus far is the sale of the 1934 Bugatti Type 59 Sports — a works Grand Prix car used during the 1934-35 season. It achieved $12.6m when it rolled across the block, which made it one of the top sales at auction in 2020.
The 2022 Concours of Elegance at Hampton Court Palace, scheduled for September 2-4, marks the tenth anniversary of the event. There are some special plans already in the works to celebrate the occasion.
