Worldwide Auctioneers Expands Auburn Auction

After the success of Worldwide’s annual Auburn Auction at home in Indiana last Labor Day Weekend, the company has confirmed that this September’s sale will be staged as a significantly expanded three-day event.

The Auburn Auction is scheduled to run over Labor Day weekend, from September 1-3, 2022, at Worldwide’s expansive Indiana headquarters. Visitors can look forward to a diverse selection of exceptional pre-war automobiles, racecars, sports, customs, classics and select American muscle cars, showcasing hundreds of vehicles including significant no-reserve collections, select memorabilia and a curated marketplace of automotive lifestyle vendors.

Early consignments include an authentic and impeccably documented 1925 Bugatti Type 35A Grand Prix, with period racing history and a roster of former keepers that includes Louis Chiron’s patron, Fred Hoffman.

“Auburn is the birthplace of the collector car auction industry in America, and we were excited to give our customers a taste of the magic last year, with multiple million-dollar sales and some emphatic sales records,” said John Kruse, Principal and Auctioneer. “Our focus to date has been on presenting high-end, boutique-style evening sales, however the market has demanded a larger and grander affair from us here in Auburn. Our emphasis will continue to be on curating the most varied offering of quality cars that represent the very best of their type, but on a considerably larger scale.”

The Auburn Auction will be open to spectators and the wider community, with Worldwide’s headquarters ideally positioned to serve as the venue for a full-scale automotive event. Kruse Plaza is a 30-acre campus with a 200,000 square-foot, climate-controlled auction facility that offers ample space for both RV and vehicle parking, as well as housing the company’s dedicated private sales division, The Salon.

Auburn, Indiana, the “Classic Car Capital of the World” has been a mecca for serious automobile enthusiasts for decades, bringing aficionados to town from all the country every year to celebrate its automotive heritage at The Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival, held over Labor Day Weekend and now in its 66th year. Worldwide Auctioneers has been a long-time sponsor and supporter of the Festival, the funding efforts of which help to further its long-term growth, as well as support the historic automobile museums of northeast Indiana, including the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum, The National Automotive and Truck Museum (NATM), and Early Ford V-8 Foundation Museum. This year’s Festival is scheduled for August 27 – September 6, with a full calendar of associated events.

“We’re honored to continue to be an integral part of this Labor Day tradition and excited to help cement Auburn’s position as an indisputable destination on the global collector car calendar, with a massively expanded auction offering, this year and long into the future,” said John Kruse.
