On May 9, Artcurial will present The W Collection in Monaco, offered at auction ahead of the Grand Prix Historique.
The collection consists of 55 rare classic cars from a Swedish collection, all of which to be offered without reserve.
The owner, a Stockholm native with a successful career developing a European clothing brand, started collecting classic cars over 50 years ago. His selections included cars with clean design and top-level craftsmanship — cars such as the 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing, 1957 and 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300SL roadsters, the 1958 Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder, the 1967 Ferrari 330 GTS, the 1963 Ferrari 250 GT/L Lusso and the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB.
“The W Collection: From Stockholm to Monaco reflects the collector’s exquisite and expert taste for classic cars,” said Matthieu Lamoure, Director of Artcurial Motorcars. “From Porsche and Ferrari to Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz, each car in The W Collection: From Stockholm to Monaco will be presented with a full and thoroughly documented provenance, accompanied in most cases by a collection of photographs of the restorations they have undergone. We are proud to present this extraordinary collection – one of the largest in Europe and the most exclusive in Sweden – to the public, a tribute to the discerning eye and boundless passion of a man with a profound love for aesthetics and design.”
The collection includes 33 Porsches, ten Ferraris, several Jaguars and the three 300SL Mercedes. In total, the group is thought to be worth €35m — or about $38m given the current conversion rate — and again, they’ll be sold without reserve.
