The Aurora, in partnership with BMW, Koenigsegg and MOTIKON, is a new concours that aims to bring some of the world’s best classic, collector and hypercars to the Bjärehalvön peninsula in southern Sweden.
The event is scheduled to take place from July 5 to 7, and it will feature a dynamic program that allows different automotive eras and genres to take center stage each day. Two historical programs — Aurora Showfield and Aurora Concours — will join Aurora Hypercar and Aurora Talks, offering both retrospective and forward-looking presentations for showgoers.
The concours will bring international collectors’ cars together with Scandinavian automotive treasures, all selected by a concours committee. Awards winners will be selected by a special jury on the final day of the event, based on the best prepared and most faithful to the cars’ originally manufactured specifications.
In addition, the Aurora Hypercar Experience will bring together cutting-edge vehicles, by invite only and arranged in partnership with Koenigsegg. This event combines an exhibition as well as an exclusive opportunity for exhibitors to visit Koenigsegg’s Gripen Atelier and meet founder and CEO Christian von Koenigsegg, and to test their cars on Koenigsegg’s test track. This event will bring together the largest collection of Koenigseggs ever shown to the public in celebration of the marque’s 30th anniversary.
The Aurora Showfield is a classic car exhibition for enthusiasts — a place for owners to come together and show off their cars with like-minded enthusiasts.
Finally, The Aurora Talks event will bring together an invited group of panel speakers, with topics including hypercars, innovation, future classics, and the upkeep of classic and modern collector cars.
“Scandinavia has a vast collection of hidden automotive treasures; iconic classics and modern hypercars that deserve to be exhibited in the international arena. We want to create a world-class lifestyle event that highlights the best Scandinavia has to offer, with entertainment both day and night”, said Filip Larsson of MOTIKON, one of the key initiators behind The Aurora.
The Aurora Concours Committee has selected the following competition classes:
- “A Drive Down Memory Lane” Automobiles from the pre-1920s to the 1980s
- “Scandinavian Sensibilities” Cars stemming from Scandinavia, whether through production, origin, design, heritage, or history
- “Muscle Mania” Muscle and Pony Cars
- “Pedal to the Metal” Cars with a Performance Pedigree
- “Mini Moons Ago” 65 Years of Mini
- “Buon Compleanno, Maserati” 110 Years of Maserati
- “Spirit of Ecstasy” 120 Years of Rolls-Royce
- “Sleeping Beauties” Modern Classics
