Stars and Cars Combine in RM Sotheby’s Vegas Event

RM Sotheby’s is gearing up to return to Las Vegas for Grand Prix Race Week, partnering with amfAR and Wynn Las Vegas. The company will present a star-studded auction alongside this year’s event, featuring an extraordinary collection of cars that’s headlined by the last Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing produced.

This exclusive event will take place during amfAR’s inaugural Las Vegas benefit on November 22 — the eve of qualifying — and will be hosted by television personality, comedian and writer Jay Leno. The event will honor Sylvester and Jennifer Stallone and will feature an intimate performance by the legendary Diana Ross.

The 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing on offer was crafted as a special-order “Standwagen” for display at the 1957 Poznan International Trade Fair. It is the final 300SL Gullwing built by the factory. It retains its original Fire Engine Red finish over Crème leather along with all numbers-matching components, from chassis to gearbox (Estimate: $2,500,000 – $3,500,000).

The 2006 McLaren-Mercedes MP4-21 Formula One car on offer here was tested by Lewis Hamilton and driven by Juan Pablo Montoya. It was restored by McLaren Racing Heritage in 2019 and comes with a McLaren Certificate of Authenticity (Estimate: $2,800,000 – $3,500,000).

The Porsche 911 Reimagined by Singer, “Highlands Commission,” is number 201 of approximately 450 Classic 964 examples created. It presents as new and offers a rare opportunity to immediately acquire a new Singer — and a model that the company will no longer be producing in this specific specification. (Estimate: $1,250,000 – $1,500,000).

The 2005 Porsche Carrera GT is one of 1,270 examples, of which only 644 cars were exported to the United States. At the time of cataloguing it displayed just 267 miles on the odometer (Estimate: $2,000,000 – $2,500,000).

The 2015 Porsche 918 ‘Weissach’ Spyder is one of 297 Spyders specified for the United States. Currently displaying just 170 miles on the odometer. (Estimate:$3,000,000 – $3,500,000).
