The Simeone Museum in Philadelphia, PA is devoting its 2023 Best of Britain show specifically to the 100th anniversary of legendary car manufacturer MG. The exhibit opens Saturday, February 11 and runs through Sunday, February 19. More than two dozen cars from MG are expected, with featured cars ranging from a 1933 MG L2 Magna to a 1996 MGF.
Of course, you can’t celebrate MG without some of its most popular models. Visitors will also gaze upon multiple iterations of the iconic MGA, as well as both the convertible and coupe variants of the MGB. Also featured is an example of the MGB GT V8 with its 3.5-L 8-cylinder engine.
For opening day, the Simeone is hosting a special presentation on the history of MG cars in America lead by Jonathan Stein. The presentation begins at 11:15 a.m. and runs until 12:45 p.m. Guests will also be able to enjoy a visual presentation highlighting special photos and videos from the Simeone Museum Library and Archives from noon to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Though the headliner is the MG Centennial, opening day also happens to be one the Simeone’s demo days. The theme for the Saturday, February 11 demo day is Jaguar at Le Mans: Dominating the Competition! The 30-minute driving demonstration includes a 1953 Jaguar XK120 FHC, 1953 Jaguar C-Type and a 1956 Jaguar D-Type. The action runs from 12:30 to 1 p.m. After which visitors can chat with the museum staff while taking photos and inspecting these special Jaguars.
