The second — of three — Gooding & Co. Geared Online Phil Hill Automobilia Collection auctions ended on February 19, and all of the 306 lots sold.
Total sales reached $1,156,156.
The top sale was Lot 131, the Herbert Johnson Racing Helmet Worn by Phil Hill. The winning bidder paid $193,750 for the helmet Hill wore during his first Le Mans victory in 1958.
The second-highest sale was Hill’s Rolex “Zenith” Daytona watch, which brought $100,000. Third place went to an original script for the 1966 “Grand Prix” movie, which raced to $63,750 from a pre-sale estimate of $4,000.
The final Online Only Phil Hill Automobilia Collection auction is scheduled for March 15-26, 2021. Treasures from the Hill Garage will include vintage music boxes, record players and car parts from Hill’s restoration business.
