RM Sotheby’s first-ever Swiss auction — St. Moritz — is just a few weeks away. The complete catalog of 24 cars planned for auction is now live, and one of the headliners is a 2002 McLaren MP4 17D driven to victory at the 2003 Australian Grand Prix with David Coulthard at the wheel.
The car, s/n MP4-17A-06, ran a total of 12 times during the 2002 and 2003 seasons and is currently set up in 2002 MP4-17A specification, although it was upgraded in period to 17D specs.
Kimi Räikkönen also drove this car, taking second place at the Grand Prix de France on Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours in July, 2002. That was the best finish of that season for McLaren. The car’s final race was with Räikkönen as well, when it took second at Suzuka in Japan in 2003.
Other lots planned for sale at the St. Moritz auction include a 1973 Porsche Carrera RS 2.7 Touring, a 2012 Aston Martin One-77, a 1989 Porsche 959 Komfort and a 1958 BMW 507 Roadster. The sale takes place on September 17 at the Kempinski hotel in the Swiss mountain town. Learn more here.
