Porsche Expert Ray Schaffer Joins Broad Arrow Group

At the 59th running of the Rolex 24 in 2021, Ray leads a high-speed parade of Brumos #59 cars ahead of the race start, piloting the first IMSA GT-winning Porsche 914/6 GT ahead of none other than Hurley Haywood, David Donohue, Andrew Davis, Leh Keen, and Earl Bamber.

Broad Arrow Group has announced that Ray Schaffer is joining its veteran team as a Car Specialist and Ambassador for Broad Arrow and Hagerty Marketplace. Schaffer is well-versed in collector cars, having spent 32 years in the automotive business and motorsport. With his knowledge of Porsche and auto racing, Ray is a frequent panelist, podcast guest and speaker at many events.

He joins Broad Arrow Group having spent the last seven years with Porsche Cars north America, Inc. in Atlanta, GA — home of the Porsche Experience Center Atlanta. Ray was a driving force behind the Porsche Classic Workshop — or Porsche Classic Factory Restorations as it is often known — and the New Vehicle Delivery Experience.  Having served as manager for Porsche Classic Market Development since 2018 and Heritage Gallery Curator, Schaffer brings not only a vast knowledge of the Porsche brand, but also many significant relationships with collectors and industry VIPs.

As a high school student, Ray began working at a local Pittsburgh dealership in the detail department before rising through the ranks of the sales team. During this time, he also attended the automotive marketing and business management external plan of study at Northwood University. In 1999, after having been introduced to Bob Snodgrass by his mentor Bob Akin, Ray began his 17-year career with the Brumos Porsche dealership in Jacksonville, FL.

A lifelong racer, Shaffer participated in Sprint Kart racing as a teenager and had early success in the 2000s in the Motorola and Grand-Am Cup. He recently purchased a factory-built 944 Turbo Cup in 2022 and has already piloted the Porsche at Road Atlanta, the Classic 24 Hours at Daytona and the Classic 12 Hours at Sebring.

“I’ve been lucky enough to work with special cars and special people throughout my career, and I look forward to continuing this perfect match with the Hagerty Marketplace and Broad Arrow team,” adds Ray Shaffer. “The Porsche and Hagerty ethos both seek to enhance the enthusiast’s experience with their cars. With the addition of Broad Arrow to the Hagerty ecosystem, this feels like a natural next step and one that combines my two loves and builds on my work to date. I look forward to returning to The Amelia in this new role with a fantastic team of experts.”

Kenneth Ahn, President, Hagerty Marketplace is equally excited, saying, “We’re thrilled to welcome Ray to the Hagerty Marketplace team as a passionate, highly respected, and exceptionally knowledgeable expert in the Porsche and collector car community. Ray has been pioneering industry-leading ideas throughout his career, whether launching an early YouTube channel at Brumos Porsche or developing the Porsche Classic business model at PCNA, where he again created unique experiences to drive sales. On behalf of the Broad Arrow and Hagerty teams, we welcome Ray and look forward to working alongside him to grow our brand and enhance the Marketplace experience.”
