Audrain Motorsport’s 2nd Annual Veteran Car Tour will put century-old cars on a scenic 50-mile round trip on April 30, 2023.
Bonhams is the presenting sponsor of this year’s tour. The tour celebrates the significant history of early cars in Newport, Rhode Island.
The tour will start at the Audrain Automobile Museum in Newport, RI, where drivers and riders will eat breakfast and prep their Brass Era cars for the day’s drive. The tour will leave the museum and travel along Newport’s beautiful beaches before heading through Middletown and Portsmouth — and through stretches of beautiful countryside — before crossing the historic Mount Hope Bridge and entering Bristol.
The tour will then return to Aquidneck Island and stop at The Aquidneck Club in Portsmouth for lunch — where the cars will be on public display — before resuming the return drive to the Audrain Automobile Museum.
Tea will be served at the museum at the end of the tour.
Entry to the tour — for one approved car, a driver and a passenger — is $1,500. Cars must have been built before 1908. Entrants who want to bring more passengers must make arrangements with Audrain Motorsports before the tour begins.
The 2023 Tour follows a very successful debut tour in 2022. Many participants said the tour was much like the world-famous London to Brighton Veteran Car Run in England.
The amazing spectacle of seeing many ancient cars chug along public roads brought out enthusiastic crowds during the 2022 tour, and even more spectators are expected in 2023.
Tour participants are also invited to a cocktail reception at Audrain Motorsport’s Vanderbilt Club on the evening of April 29.
