Monterey Car Week has evolved over the years from the early days of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Monterey Historic races. These days, mid-August brings a whole week of automotive excess to the Monterey area, from auctions to shows and beyond — and it’s gained a new event.
The Monterey Motorsports Festival, which got its start in 2023, is touted as a family friendly experiential event that brings together motoring innovation, modern technologies, VIP amenities and more. The inaugural event saw over 4,000 attendees come to the Monterey Fair & Event Center, and this year is aiming to build on that success, with even more displays to excite auto enthusiasts.
Classic and modern cars are at the heart of this event, with everything from exotics, classics, race cars and more on display. But beyond just the cars, there’s a focus on technology in motion here: motorcycles, ATVs, bikes, heavy equipment and beyond.
The Monterey Motorsports Festival also includes racing simulators, vehicle wrap demonstrations, off-road exhibits, food carts, live music and more. It runs from 11 am to 10 pm, which means it’s easy to fit into a busy Monterey schedule, and running it well past sunset adds a different dynamic than you’d find at a shorter, daytime-only show.
This year’s event takes place on Saturday, August 17. Tickets are available now and range from $120 for adult general admission to $350 for VIP admission. There are discounts for military, healthcare workers and first responders. Kids from 13 to 17 are $45, and kids 12 and under are free.
