Chester Allen, executive editor of Linkage, spent 10 years as executive editor at Sports Car Market magazine.
He’s addicted to the car life, and he lives for getting on the road — the asphalt river — and finding new places and experiences. Linkage is the best adventure of his journalism career.
Chester has been a professional journalist for 30 years. Before joining Sports Car Market, he worked at newspapers throughout the Northwest, including The Olympian in Olympia, WA, the Tacoma News Tribune and the Corvallis Gazette-Times. He is graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication.
He is an avid outdoors lover and a lifelong fly angler and surfer. He has published several outdoor books, including “Fly Fishing for Sea-Run Cutthroat’ and “Yellowstone Runners.” Chester also is an avid freelance outdoor journalist, and his work has been published in The Drake, Midcurrent, American Angler and many other publications.
Chester’s other passions include travel, art, photography and music. He’s also passionate about — you guessed it — reading, writing and editing. He lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife, Heather and two very spoiled dogs.

Jim Pickering, managing editor of Linkage, is a columnist, editor and book author based in Beaverton, OR. He’s an ex-mechanic and life-long car guy who grew up around trucks, street rods and muscle cars. He tracked the collector car market for over a decade in various roles at Sports Car Market magazine, and served as editor of American Car Collector for all of its 52 issues.
