The Summer Special auction has wrapped, and for Mecum, it’s another big number — this time, the total take fell in at just under $35m in sales, which is basically lock-step in line with the $35m achieved here in 2021.
This second Summer Special sale saw 869 cars change hands this year compared to 850 last year. This year, a 2017 Lamborghini Aventador LP740-4S that was the high sale of the event at $440,000.
Among the other lots sold, a 1959 Chevrolet Impala convertible with some subtle custom touches made $319,000, while a pair of custom Chevrolet Nomad wagons — a 1955 and a 1956 — brought $225,000 each.
In addition, a 1987 Buick GNX brought $225,500 and a 1,700-mile 2019 Porsche 911 Turbo S sold for $214,500, while a 1967 Shelby GT500 fastback found a new owner at $220,000.
