Sonicbidder is taking a blast at a hallowed past with “Fun Cars of the ‘50s & ‘60s” auction on June 16.
The lineup features a great car that almost got lost in the surging seas of Chevy Impalas and Caprices way back in 1966 — the Plymouth Sport Fury. These sleek, angular cars had a different look — it just shouts “1960s!” — and they carried serious horsepower under the hood.
Lot 9 has the largest engine available in a 1966 Sport Fury — the 440-ci V8, which made over 425 horsepower. This power goes through a classic 3-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. This car has less than 24,000 miles on the clock.
These cars moved down the road, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this one showed up at Hot August Nights or a Youngtimer event later this summer. The car is black with a black leather interior.
This auction also features a 1949 Buick Woodie wagon, a 1956 Ford Thunderbird and a 1957 Ford Thunderbird.
Bidding starts on SonicBidder’s website at 10 a.m. CST on June 16.
