Summer is here, and now is the time to squeeze as much fun as possible out of the best time of the year.
One must-do event, especially if you live in the Northeast, is the July 21-22 Lime Rock Northeast Grand Prix Presented by Liqui Moly — two days of motorsport that features these three races:
Saturday’s FCP Northeast Grand Prix WeatherTech Sportscar Challenge is the highlight of the weekend. Factory teams, including BMW, Chevrolet and Porsche, will race against each other and privateer teams. Two classes of GT3 cars will pit pros and amateurs against each other in a 2.75-hour race on Lime Rock’s world-famous 1.5-mile track.
The VP Racing Sportscar Challenge, also on Saturday, features two 45-minute races with LMP3 Prototypes and GT4 cars.
The IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge pits production touring cars (TCR Class) against each other in a two-hour race on Saturday.
Friday features practice and qualifying for all three of Sunday’s events.
Lime Rock Park, located at 60 White Hollow Road, Lakeville, CT, is between Boston and New York City and is an easy drive from most places in the Northeast United States.
Camping — in tents and RVs — is a great tradition at Lime Rock Park.
