Join Us for the Linkage Monterey Car Week Seminar: The Pull of the Lost Car

In partnership with RM Sotheby’s, Linkage will present “The Linkage Conversation: The Pull of the Lost Car — What Drives a Collector to Preserve or Rescue an Automotive Object.”

This seminar will take place at the Monterey Conference Center, which is also the site of RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction, at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 18.

Our panel will discuss:

What is the pull of the barn car?

Where does Preservation end?

Can a car from the “Lost & Found Collection” be more desirable than one directly from the best restorer’s shop?

The Panel:

Donald Osborne, ASA, is the Publisher of Linkage magazine, and a classic car historian, consultant, accredited appraiser and author. The CEO of the Audrain Group in Newport, Rhode Island, he guides the Audrain Automobile Museum, Audrain Motorsport and the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week.

Stephen Serio, a noted broker, dealer, enthusiast, writer and collector. As the owner of Aston Martin of New England/Lotus Motorsports Inc., and the Bond Group, he has consulted with collectors around the world on curating, restoring and servicing since 1987.

Steven Harris is a noted architect, with projects all over the planet, a life-long Porsche collector and Linkage writer. Harris wrote about driving a modified 1964 Porsche 356 in the Peking to Paris Rally in Linkage 012. Harris explored the introduction of the Porsche 901/911 in 1964 in Linkage 008.

Donald and the panel will be taking a close look a the cars from the Lost & Found Collection — a group of long-hidden Ferraris on offer at RM Sotheby’s with fantastic histories and battle scarred, as-built conditions. They will then compare and contrast them against other significant lots to be offered in Monterey this year, including the well-restored ex-Steve McQueen Ferrari 275 GTB/4, the equally shiny Targa Florio-raced 1960 Ferrari 250 GT California, a fantastically restored 1967 Porsche 911S Soft Window Targa and a well preserved original 2005 Porsche Carrera GT.

Admission is free but space is limited. Register now by emailing callen@audrainmotorsport.com, or call 1.503.939.7084.

Linkage subscriptions will be sold at the door.

The Monterey Conference Center, is located at 1 Portola Plaza, Monterey, CA.
