RM Sotheby’s will offer four incredible JDM cars at its London sale on 5 November. All the examples on offer are presented in a well-preserved and unmolested condition and include some of the most desirable models offered to the Japanese market. With minimal modifications, the cars are highly collectable and offer a rare opportunity for collectors to acquire cars that are rarely found, factory-correct examples.
On offer is a 2002 Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II Nür, which is the ultimate evolution of the GT-R. Manufactured in limited numbers, with just 718 examples produced, this Millennium[PH1] Jade over black cloth interior example is ultimate GT-R for any JDM aficionado. Add to this an uprated N1 race engine, which produces 276-bhp, and you have an immensely powerful and rewarding machine that rivaled anything else on the road in its day Estimate: £120,000 – £160,000 ($136,047 – $181,396).
The 2001 Honda NSX-T is a wonderful example of one of the finest sports cars to ever emerge from the Japanese motor industry. Offered with the desirable and striking color combination of Berlina Black over Tan leather, this example is ideal for collectors. It’s accompanied by its factory tool kit, service book, and space saver spare, and the odometer reads just 35,905 km. Estimate: £70,000 – £100,000 ($79,361 – $113,372).
Joining the lineup is a stunning 2002 Toyota Supra RZ-S Twin Turbo. Presented in the striking color of Super White, the twin-turbo powerplant provided an ingenious approach to reducing turbo lag, with one operating at 1,800 rpm and the second at 4,000, enabling boost from a low speed. This meant the legendary 3.0 “2JZ-GTE” engine could take this Supra from 0-60 in under five seconds and up to 155 mph. This example left the factory in what was the final year of production for the fourth-generation Supra, and now with only 8,293 km on the clock, this 2002 example is certainly one of the most collectable Supras available to the market. Estimate: £80,000 – £120,000 ($90,698 – $136,047).
Rounding off this exciting selection of Japanese collectables, is the 2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type-A.The Spirit R designation makes it the final iteration of Mazda’s halo sports car, and the one to have for many collectors. The Type-A boasts a 1.3-liter twin-turbo rotary engine that produces 276-bhp, meaning the 1,280 kg machine boasts serious performance. With just 5,762 km on the clock, in the rare factory color of Innocent Blue Mica, this is certainly a very special variant of the RX-7. Estimate:£70,000 – £100,000 ($79,361 – $113,372).
