Gooding & Company has announced an array of consignments from the Lloyd Hawkins Collection and the Rudy “Mr. 993” Mancinas Collection for its upcoming Amelia Island Auction.

The Porsches and BMWs from these two well respected collections will join the rest of the company’s offerings on the auction stage in Amelia Island on Friday, March 4, 2022.

Nine Porsches from the Lloyd Hawkins Collection will be available, including a 1979 Porsche 935 — one of just 37 customer cars built between 1977 and 1979. Finished in Interscope livery from its run at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1979, it comes with a second 930/75 engine. Gooding’s estimate on the car is $1.7m to $2m.

A second 1979 935 will also be available from the Hawkins Collection — this one in very correct condition. It was originally delivered to collector Otis Chandler and is still finished in his racing team’s blue livery. It’s had four owners from new. Gooding’s estimate is $1.5m to $1.8m.

Joining the two 935s is a 1974 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR IROC — one of 15 built for the IROC series. Finished in India Red, the car has history at both the Daytona 24 Hours as well as the 12 Hours of Sebring. Gooding’s estimate is $1.1m to $1.3m.

Eighteen cars from the Rudy “Mr. 993” Mancinas Collection will also be on-site, including eight BMWs and 10 Porsches — all offered without reserve.

Porsche highlights of this collection include a Blue Turquoise 1997 993 Carrera 4S ($150k to $200k), a 1997 993 Carrera 2S in Ocean Jade Metallic ($130k to $160k), a 1996 993 Carrera 4S in Slate Gray ($125k to $150k) and a 1998 993 Carrera 4S in Glacier White over Chestnut Brown ($125k to $150k).

In terms of BMWs, M3s from the E30, E36, E46 and E92 generations are all consigned, many of which in rare colors, as was typical of Mancinas’ tastes. Included are a 1988 M3 in Alpine White ($90k to $120k), a 2013 M3 Lime Rock Park Edition in Fire Orange ($80k to $100k), a 2001 M3 in Laguna Seca Blue ($70k to $80k), and a 1988 M3 in Henna Red over black — a one-year only combination ($65k to $75k).

“Gooding & Company is excited to present these two outstanding private collections at Amelia Island,” said Gooding & Company Senior Specialist, David Brynan. “The Lloyd Hawkins Collection features a selection of important competition cars, including iconic models like the RSR and 935. The Rudy ‘Mr. 993’ Mancinas collection offers enthusiasts the opportunity to acquire some of the most sought-after modern classics from Porsche and BMW, many of which are finished in rare or one-off colors. These cars showcase the incredible vision of two well-respected collectors and the amazing range of interest that exists within the Porsche community.”

Gooding & Company’s Amelia Island auction takes place at the Omni Amelia Island Resort on Friday, March 4, starting at 11:00 AM. Preview days run from Thursday, March 3 through the start of the auction on the 4th.
