Broad Arrow Auctions Presents Highlights of the Monterey Jet Center Auction

A note from our friends at Broad Arrow Auctions:

Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty company, is pleased to present over 160 lots at its upcoming Monterey Jet Center Auction held during the exciting Hagerty Motorlux event. The two-day auction will begin on Wednesday, August 14th at 6:30 pm and then continue on Thursday the 15th with the sale beginning at 3:00 pm.

Highlights include a true titan of motorsport and one of the most collectible of all Porsches extant, the 1997 Porsche 911 GT1 Rennversion, estimated at $8,500,000 – $10,500,000. Chassis 993-GT1-108 is one of just nine customer GT1s originally made and notably, the GT1 is offered directly from long-term private ownership where it has been in the hands of an esteemed Porsche collector for some time. Also of note, it was never severely damaged or dismantled and today remains in superbly presented condition.

Another outstanding offering is a design icon of remarkable and enduring beauty, the 1938 Talbot-Lago T150 C Lago Spéciale Teardrop Coupé by Figoni et Falaschi, estimated at $6,500,000 – $8,500,000. The stunning masterwork of Art Deco-inspired design was ordered new by gentleman race driver and banker Antoine Schumann to replace his Bugatti Type 50. Sold to Schumann by Luigi Chinetti for the sum of 165,000 francs, this is the only Figoni et Falaschi Teardrop Coupé built on the T150 C Lago Spéciale chassis. A special-order body with unique features specified by Schumann, and a class winner at the 1948 Belgian Grand Prix, the 24 Hours of Spa, chassis 90034 certainly has known provenance with ownership by prominent French collectors.

Adding to the lineup of 157 collector cars is a truly spectacular 1913 Mercer 35-J Raceabout, estimated at $2,500,000 – $3,000,000. Emerging from long-term hibernation only recently, the 1913 Mercer is unique in that it has been in the care of its current owner’s family since 1959, undoubtedly one of the longest-known tenures in Raceabout ownership history.

Also offered at Broad Arrows Monterey Jet Center Auction is one of Ferrari’s greatest ever grand tourers, a 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB, estimated at $2,250,000 – $2,750,000, faithfully presented in its original twin-cam “long nose” form, wearing its original color scheme, and retaining all of its original major mechanicals. This exciting Ferrari is well suited for extensive touring or showcasing at prestigious concours d’elegance and FCA events but would also make an ideal companion for cruising costal roads as it was for its French owners.

And of the more modern offerings, is a 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach Package, estimated at $2,400,000 – $2,700,000. As one of the original “holy trinity” hypercars, the highly-collectible 918 Spyder arguably delivered the most accomplished and versatile of the ultra-exclusive trio. It is a technical tour de force-especially in Weissach Package trim-equally as capable of 30 mph all-electric urban travel as it was of 200 mile per hour Hot Lap track performance, it also represented a car of superior ergonomics, remarkable everyday practicality, and Porsche’s expected build quality.
