This year’s award for the highest single lot price achieved at Arizona Car Week went to Bonhams for a Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ that sold for $5,175,000.
The Chiron Super Sport 300+ is the world’s fastest road-going car, with a 7.9-L quad-turbo V12 making 1,578 hp at a screaming 7,000 RPM. The car’s top speed is said to be over 300 mph. Only 30 have been produced — and only eight others have been delivered to the U.S. This car was the first of that exclusive group offered in a public venue.
In total, Bonhams|Cars presented a collection of 84 lots in Arizona, with 80% selling for a final total of $12m.
Presented directly across from the Chiron during the preview was a 1936 Bugatti Type 57 Atalante Sunroof Coupe. This car had participated in the 1938 Rallye des Alpes and is one of only four remaining models with the factory-produced sunroof body. It later sold for $1,380,000.
Other highlights included a 1970 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Spider that sold for $596,250, a 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS that made $431,250 and a 1966 Aston Martin DB6 Sports Saloon that sold for $268,800 without reserve.
