The Audrain Concours & Motor Week kicks off in just a few days, and Bonhams is set to host an auction of select high-end cars as part of the celebration. This first-time event will offer 42 lots, each one aligning with the week’s focus on history, luxury and sport.
Among the historic lots on offer is a 1913 Rolls-Royce 40/50hp Silver Ghost London Edinburgh Tourer. It’s one of 188 built and features the rare larger fuel tank and 4-speed gearbox — equipment referred to as Colonial or Continental specification. The car has known history, including military service, and has been restored to concours condition. It’s estimated at $1.45m to $1.85m.
Bonhams will also offer a 1963 Shelby Cobra roadster. This car is the 47th example produced, and it has a number of distinctive early production features. It has its original bodywork and is powered by its original 260-ci V8. It’s estimated at $750k to $950k.
Also planned for auction is a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing that wears an original set of Rudge wheels and retains its original coachwork and drivetrain. This car comes from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where it’s been on display for the past decade. It’s estimated at $1.3m to $1.6m.
Additional lots include a 1913 Alco Five-Passenger Touring Car, a 1962 Aston Martin DB4 Series III Saloon, a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette 327/365 coupe and a 1994 Lamborghini Diablo SE30. The complete list of consignments is online here.
The auction takes place on October 1 at Audrain’s Concours Village, with both live and remote bidding available. The event will be livestreamed on the Bonhams App and at www.bonhams.com, giving bidders the opportunity to watch the event in real-time from anywhere.
